I go to a new office tomorrow, having hoped that I have a running installation, now it's midnight on Sunday and I have this mess. I have even given up trying to customise anything, I'm going with the use defaults for partitioning, with the defaults for the desktop manager. At 1360 or so of 1369 files, the installer suddenly aborts and shows me this wonderful and informative message: Now the process grinds to a halt, and the installer begins to estimate the remaining time alternatingly at 4 1/2 minutes or 2 1/2 days. The first 1300 of the 1369 files are "retrieved" within a minute or two. First of all, it finds not just the Ethernet but also the WLAN. I use the 4 GB firmware-11.1.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso - totally easy to find on the website /sarcasm. Only to break at 1300-something of 1369 files. Downloading the packages took 4 hours (!!!). The laptop is connected to DSL Internet via Ethernet. I have created a huge (900 GB) empty space on the SSD, disabled fast-boot, changed to boot order to start from USB, and tried first the 400 MB netinst image. I have spend the half of my Sunday trying to install Debian 11 on a new HP Zbook, which is preconfigured with Windows 10.
